Consequences two months later

This year, the world’s leading exhibition meeting of bicycle industry, trade and press, took place from 13 to 17 July 2022 in Frankfurt, Germany.

At the fair, 33.780 trade visitors and 1500 exhibitors from 105 countries around the world, had the opportunity to network, establish business relationships and celebrate their business successes. This occasion has highlighted the question and the need on the part of companies to return to the search for manufacturers in Europe and therefore to bring their business back to the vicinity. It has been demonstrated that the industry needs to meet in person to understand global cycling trends and look to the future together. 

Industry, commerce, politicians and all bicycle enthusiasts are sending a clear signal from Frankfurt: cycling must be further supported and encouraged. For industry, Eurobike is the most important platform in the world and a sustainable engine to accelerate this transformation. The professionals from the sector meet here to define the new trends and technologies of upcoming trends. The exhibitors have given prominence to the electric Bikes and its components. A wide range of choices and a great variety of shapes, concepts, prototypes, components and more: the incredible design creativity found among the various stands have characterized this 2022.

After the problems related to China lockdown, transport cost and the exponential rise of the ebikes production phenomenon, China lockdown, European producers were the protagonists of this faire edition. The rapid increase in sales of electric bikes is causing the big brands to be unable to sustain the desired level of supply. Although this factor may have a negative tint, the circumstances also allow new brands to emerge with innovative products to provide alternatives to the customer. One of the manufacturers of components, frames, racks and parts that we find as an exhibitor is DMOTOR. Located in Spain and founded in 1972 this year will celebrate its 50th anniversary in the market. Starting its shop as a small family business, over the years it has managed to make a name for herself in the market until the pandemic where it opened up to the world of electric bikes, always known for the quality of its products and its experience in the sector.

As expected this meeting combined the need to produce in Europe with the need to increase the offer, giving rise to a consequent inversion by companies on new machinery to adapt to the growing market forecast regarding electric bikes. The forecast makes us think that many of the new collaborations created during the Frankfurt fair 2022 will find Europe as the main place of business activities, and not only; new projects and ideas are ready to amaze us for the next edition of the fair. An entire pavilion dedicated to the world of pedal assisted bicycles, a world in which we have thrown ourselves headlong, to discover the models that will change the future of mobility. Compact motors and battery packs in continuous evolution.

The fair's program also included an area for cycling and testing the latest inventions, a fashion show, where all interested and curious visitors were able to directly experience the sensation of riding the multiple models presented. Sitting, standing or even lying down, there was no lack of diversion. A space was even dedicated to test racing bikes, where professionals could give space to their skills. As it could be seen, the Eurobike Award awarded the most efficient and sustainable innovations on the market.

The focus of the fair was not only on the bicycles, but the components also played a leading role: smart rollers of every kind, bottles of cycling of different colours and forms, group set, wheels and seat posts for gravel from various brands, fulcrum wheels of all dimensions, novelties in saddles, gave to the exhibition a coloured an extra touch of colour and movement. The environment we were able to breathe was therefore not only commercial but also fun and emotion.
